Making a change to their usual routine, club members went to visit the 'Speaker of the week' at his work, for a recent club meeting. The man in question was Fred Williams and his work (as a volunteer) was at the Portrush RNLI Station.

There was a puzzled look on Probus faces when Vice President, Derick Woods, welcomed and introduced the morning speakers to club members. Sean McCarry and Barry Torrens, had come along to talk about ”The Community Rescue Service”. For most of the members this was an unknown service.

New President John McGlade greets Jim Hunter with recent club member John O'Neill (R)
Coleraine Probus and the home of 'The King of Tory Island'
The speaker at the first meeting, that the new Club President John McGlade presided over, was the well-known local historian, Jim Hunter. Jim's talk was a fascinating story with a mix of factual history and Island Folklore, all based around the last King of Tory Island.
